After many question’s about how to improve my  knowledgeability of programs relating to equipment that I support, it dawned on me that this was going to be an ongoing challenge, given the limited time  available to learn.
Mostly time was taken up by working in environments that I felt unfamiliar with and so normally the only way to cope was by using on the spot learning techniques.
It was not in synch with what I felt was best practice but it was necessary as there was really now one to help me.
So whenever I had an opportune time to learn more I used that time.
